The men’s breakfast group, started in Lent of 2011, meets weekly on most Tuesdays at 7:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall, plus some members participate by Zoom, including from locations outside of Lexington. The group includes men from the parish as well as men from other faiths in the local area. We serve coffee and juice and a freshly cooked, hot breakfast, followed by a discussion on spiritual matters based upon a meditation by a leading theologian. We close with a prayer by the men, adjourning by 8:00 a.m.

A modest weekly donation from the men covers the cost of the breakfast, and to the extent that donations exceed the cost of the food, the men make year-end cash gifts to local charitable organizations, including Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity, Boy’s Home of Virginia, Rockbridge Area Relief Association, Rockbridge Recovery regarding drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and The Christmas Basket program. Also, in October 2024, the men donated $1,500 to the Warm Project to support heaters for families in Western North Carolina whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Helene.
Pat McGuire oversees the Zoom connection and Connie Bryant and Lisa McGuire provide important support for each meeting.
All men of the parish, as well as men from nearby faith groups, are invited and encouraged to participate in this ministry. The discussions and prayers are open to all. Indeed, we are “fed twice” as we break bread in the fellowship of the Lord and learn from each other, all of which enlightens, stirs, and strengthens us by the grace of God.
